Put simply, Windows 365 is a cloud-based virtual desktop solution. It provides users with their own Cloud PC which is accessible from almost any device with an internet connection, including Windows, macOS, Chrome OS, and Linux. It offers a virtualized computing experience which is securely streamed straight from Microsoft Azure’s Public Cloud.

Windows 365 Editions

You can choose between the Business or Enterprise edition of Windows 365, but both require sufficient licencing.

Choose Windows 10 or Windows 11 Business Edition if you are a smaller organization (up to 300 users). This option requires a Windows 365 subscription licence.

Choose the Enterprise Edition if you are a smaller or larger organization seeking a solution that is compatible with Microsoft Endpoint Manager which will integrate with both Azure Active Directory and Microsoft Defender. You’ll need a licence for all three tools, alongside a Windows 10 or 11 Enterprise licence, depending on your system.

Windows 365 Pricing, Licensing, and Support

Charged on a monthly basis, Windows 365 costs can vary depending on spec. The lowest spec consists of 2vCPU with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage, while the highest spec reaches 8vCPUs, 32GB RAM and 512GB storage. You may also face additional costs based on network usage.

Although Microsoft does provide support for Windows 365, this is only at an infrastructure deployment level. User support and day-to-day IT maintenance must be supported by the business.

Summary

Designed for simplicity, Windows 365 cloud has two editions of one quick solution: ‘Business’ and ‘Enterprise’. Business edition is dedicated for smaller companies with less than 300 users who will not be impacted by the limited functionality of the edition. Meanwhile, Enterprise is more suitable for larger companies without user limits who are undaunted by the number of licences.
